The associate in arts degree with a concentration in Theatre and the one year Foundation in Acting certificate from the Hawai‘i Conservatory of Performing Arts at Windward Community College are the premier professional actor training programs on Oahu.
Our skilled faculty are current theatre professionals with connections in Los Angeles, New York, Seattle, London and Beijing. We focus on nurturing our students’ craft and ensuring that they have every opportunity to grow as humans and artists, and set their feet on a real career path.
Students receive actor training in multiple methods and practice their craft on stage at Palikū Theatre. We offer a serious grounding in the core skills of voice and movement, we certify students as actor-combatants with Dueling Arts International, and we connect them with career performers, agents, and casting directors. Our alumni include several working professionals across all tiers and disciplines in the performing arts industry.
WCC’s capstone Study Abroad program to the UK gives actors the chance to train with some of the best in the business, collaborate with the Royal Shakespeare Company. It provides opportunities to audition for top-tier drama schools in London. So far, each student we’ve trained who has opted to audition has been accepted to one of the most respected drama schools in London—proof positive of the efficacy of our work.
