Most people don’t know that many UHMC students have been houseless or food-insecure. Other students are living paycheck to paycheck and may not be able to make it to school when they need to choose between books or child care, tuition or car repair.
But they are working hard to improve their livelihoods and have made it to college! They are training as chefs, mechanics, nurses, HVAC installers and so much more.
Funding that helps students through emergencies or provides them with food can change the trajectory of a life. Here is what students who have picked up food bags from our food pantry have to say:
