Sustainable Community Food Systems
Sustainable Community Food Systems

The Sustainable Community Food Systems Program at the University of Hawai‘i–West O‘ahu is designed to develop leaders in a multidisciplinary field of food systems and sustainability. Through the program, students study pressing environmental and public health issues in food and agriculture along with the goals and strategies for advancing sustainability, resilience, and social justice in the food system.

Taught by leading scholars in the field, the SCFS program curriculum emphasizes the integration of Indigenous and Traditional Ecological Knowledge with Western science and hands-on learning in the field. For more on job opportunities in the field of sustainable food systems, and the work of our program graduates, please see the following SCFS graduate interviews.

Gifts to the UH West O‘ahu SCFS program will support Native Hawaiian and first-generation students, training them to become future leaders in food systems and sustainability. We ask for your support. Mahalo nui!
