Hawaiʻinuiākea believes that providing opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to travel to student conferences, workshops, field schools and trainings are integral to developing students’ confidence and career connections.
Contributing to this fund will support Hawaiʻinuiākea students traveling to the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues at the UN this summer, and graduate students presenting to the Native American and Indigenous Studies Association conference in Norway. Our own Native Hawaiian Student Services are also planning a Hawaiian Youths Abroad with visits to our ancestral homes in Polynesia building on very successful educational tours to Europe in 2018 and 2019.
Our Kūpuna understood that exploring, voyaging and knowing the world beyond our horizons were the keys to our people’s future. It is just as true now as it ever was.
