Hulihia has embarked on a three-year project supporting the long-term revitalization of Lāhainā. The center is helping to create resilient community through integrating indigenous wisdom, community feedback, and advanced sustainability systems. The overall goal is to preserve the cultural heritage of Lāhainā by supporting restoration of critical natural ecosystems and resources, sustainable infrastructure, low-impact development, and community wellbeing. Beginning with assessing the efficiency of community-driven recovery efforts, Hulihia staff are developing comprehensive maps that capture who is doing what, and what money is going where. The outcome will provide Maui County with community driven and sustainable solutions for rebuilding Lāhainā. Your support will help ensure that Lāhainā residents are able to contribute to this rebuilding.
