We want to make our grounds and our educational programming more accessible to keiki of all backgrounds.
If you can spare $10, we can provide transportation and a lunch for one student to visit the arboretum. If you are able to give as much as $250, you create an opportunity for an entire class from a Title I school.
Will you help us with a gift to support field trips for these keiki?
Our field trips support classroom teachers’ curricula and are place-based. They emphasize the unique plants and animals we have at Lyon, as well as Hawai‘i’s history and culture.
Hawaiʻi has the dubious honor of being the endangered species capital of the world. At Lyon, students see, in-person, some of our critically endangered plants that may even be extinct in the wild. It is a memorable experience and can lead to a lifelong spirit of mālama ʻāina.
By helping our keiki to visit Lyon, you are helping our ʻāina because they are the future stewards of our islands.
Mahalo for your gift!
What is a Title I School? The Title I program provides financial assistance to schools that serve a high percentage of students from low-income families. Field trips are not part of this support, but these students deserve the same opportunities to engage with our ʻāina and to form a lasting connection to it.
