Hulihia strives to be the centralized location for sustainability in Maui Nui. In order to achieve this, Hulihia works with individual community members, decision-makers, and other stakeholders at all levels in order to maximize our current sustainability efforts as well as catalyze new initiatives.
This year Hulihia Center for Sustainable Systems is proud to support the restoration of Mokuʻula and Mokuhinia—once the royal seat of Maui’s aliʻi and a vital wetland ecosystem. This isn’t just a restoration project; it’s a movement to reclaim history, heal the land, and uplift community.
As part of UH Maui College, Hulihia brings together cultural practitioners, scientists, local leaders, and government agencies to ensure the work honors Native Hawaiian knowledge while building a sustainable, resilient future for Lahaina.
Your gift supports cultural revitalization, ecological stewardship, and community resilience—creating a model for restoration rooted in both tradition and innovation.
