At the Thompson School of Social Work and Public Health, we are dedicated to creating a healthier, more equitable community through education, research, and community outreach. Your donations will directly impact the students, faculty, and vital programs shaping the future of social work and public health.
Empowering Our Future - Support the Thompson School Dean’s Account:
The Thompson School Dean’s Account provides flexibility for the school’s highest-priority needs. Your gift allows us to respond quickly to the needs of our faculty and staff, research, public service, and other activities enhancing the excellence of future leaders in this field.
Strengthening Native Hawaiian & Indigenous Health Leaders – Public Health Fund:
The Native Hawaiian & Indigenous Health program engages and supports the next generation of Indigenous public health scholars and leaders, with Indigenous ways of knowing at the heart of all we do. Your gift promotes our summer programs, and it empowers our students to engage in hands-on, culturally grounded public health experiences, such as huaka‘i – intentional trips or journeys including classroom field trips, networking events, and travel to conferences.
Responding to Community Needs - Growing our Social Work Workforce:
The Social Work Workforce Development Hub addresses the shortage of social workers in Hawai‘i and the Pacific, raising awareness of this special profession, promoting degree pathways, and fostering partnerships for a highly and effective social work workforce. Thank you for supporting workshops for students, professional development training, workforce studies, and the post-graduation success of our workforce – Hawai‘i’s social workers.
Building age-friendly communities – Center on Aging Fund:
The Center on Aging strives to build a more dementia-friendly Hawai‘i, with communities who are aware of – and empathetic to – people with dementia and to their caregivers. Your gift will deliver Dementia Friends training to high school students in the state’s health academies. It will support development of a micro-credential in dementia capability for UH students and working professionals. It will help implement a memory café, an informal gathering space for people with dementia and their caregivers, in which they may gather and socialize. It will also support the Eldercare Toolkit, a resource for teachers in this field to integrate lessons and activities on eldercare into their classrooms.
Together, we can make a meaningful change! Your donation, no matter the size, helps us continue to build a better and healthier future. Join us in making a difference by supporting the next generation of advocates dedicated to improving health outcomes for all!
