Below you will find answers to many common questions about UH Mānoa Athletics Homecoming.
What is Giving Week?
This week long campaign is a UH Mānoa Athletics effort to inspire alumni, students, parents, friends, and the larger community to make a gift to any area of athletics. The goal is to bring the entire community together so we can all help this effort by sharing, following and financially supporting UH Athletics.
Why should I participate?
Philanthropy has never been more important than it is now. Private support from alumni, friends and others helps fund scholarships for students who otherwise might not have access to higher education. Support from philanthropic sources also funds program enhancements and hands-on learning experiences for students. Giving back and paying it forward is one of the greatest things we can do for UH.
Is it safe to make an online gift?
Yes, Univerity of Hawai‘i Foundation takes significant measures to ensure that all donor information is safe and secure. When you make a gift at givingday.uhfoundation.org, and you provide your credit card information, everything is processed through a secure payment processing gateway. We place the highest priority on the confidentiality of donor information. You will receive an email receipt soon after you make a gift on the Day of Giving.
What areas can I support?
We have done our best to include many academic and campus life departments that our alumni and friends will consider supporting. Please review the participating groups on our main page and find the priority listing that is near and dear to your heart. You can designate your gift to any area of the university that is important to you. Whether you are passionate about your college/department or you have an interest in a specific research initiative or student program, you are free to designate your gift to that program. If you don’t see a specific fund you are interested in supporting, you can select “Other” and still make your gift.
What are Matching and Challenge Gifts?
Matching gifts help encourage greater participation and larger gifts to the university. They provide buoyancy and a sense of urgency that frequently prompts action on the part of potential donors. These also provide donors the opportunity to double the impact of their contribution.
Are gifts tax-deductible?
Yes. Gifts are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Once you make your gift, you will receive an email confirmation that your gift has been received. A printed gift receipt will be mailed for tax purposes.
When will my credit card be charged?
Your credit card will be charged immediately.
Does the UH Foundation charge administrative fees on gifts received?
The Foundation’s Board of Trustees is responsible for establishing fees which help support the operations of the Foundation. The process for establishing or changing fees includes the concurrence of the university. A one-time administrative fee of 5% on all incoming gifts, including endowment gifts, and other non-gift income deposited in an account.
What if I don't see my school/organization in the list of participating groups?
If you do not see this on the platform, please select “Other” and include the program/fund name you wish to support in the comments section. We will make sure your gift is designated to the area of your choice.
Can't find your favorite fund?
Choose any "Program" then select "Other" from the "Fund Designation."
