Please make a gift in memory of the late Dr. Niki Libarios, former College of Education Office of Student Academic Services (OSAS) Director, who passed away unexpectedly in August 2017.
The Tinalak Filipino Education Council founded the Dr. Niki Libarios #BeKindToAStudent Scholarship to honor the enduring legacy of his life and work. Along with serving as a co-founder of Tinalak and director of OSAS, Dr. Libarios was a former academic advisor, community college counselor, and elementary school teacher.
Dr. Libarios's research interests centered on Filipino recruitment, persistence, and community college transfer in higher education. In all of his work, he lived by the motto #BeKindToAStudent. Having been a community college transfer student himself, he believed in paying it forward through kindness and empowerment.
Your gift to the Dr. Niki Libarios #BeKindToAStudent Scholarship will assist UHM COE undergraduate and graduate students who are committed to serving the Filipino community.
